The group of revived whiskey brands gets a little more crowded as Grain & Barrel Spirits announced its reintroduction of Chicken Cock Whiskey 10-year-old, Double Barrel Bourbon, as well as a return to Kentucky for future releases.

Originally founded in 1856 in Paris, Kentucky, Chicken Cock Whiskey was a popular bourbon up and through prohibition. Also called the Famous Old Brand, Chicken Cock was known throughout the US, even after prohibition, until a fire shut down the Kentucky-based distillery in the 1950s.

Limited release Chicken Cock 10 Year Old Double Barrel

In 2011, Chicken Cock was revived by Grain & Barrel CEO Matt Antilla, who initially released 30 barrels of an 8-year-old bourbon in 2017 to celebrate the brand’s 160th anniversary. Then, in mid-2018, Antilla tapped Bardstown Bourbon Company in Bardstown, Kentucky to produce a Kentucky bourbon for Chicken Cock. Grain & Barrel’s master distiller, Gregg Snyder, worked with Bardstown Bourbon Co's Steve Nally to create a unique whiskey that will carry Chicken Cock's famous label.

Chicken Cock Whiskey will join other vintage brands that have recently been brought back to life (or given an injection of new life), like Michter’s, I.W. Harper, and Yellowstone. What these brands have in common is that each of them appeals to consumers who want more than just a good whiskey, but also a good story to go along with it.

If you hurry, you can pick up a bottle of Chicken Cock Whiskey’s limited 10 Year Old Double Barrel Bourbon by going to their website. But if you miss out, there will be more on the way (though it will take several years before it's ready). http://www.chickencockwhiskey....
