There is plenty to be happy about as we trudge on through the winter months, but, to me, one of the downers in late winter is the lack of color and vibrancy. All those holiday ornaments and lights are tucked away, leaving us with drab landscapes and gray cloudy skies.

That’s one of the reasons I thought a colorful blue drink might help cheer things up. The bright hue of blue curaao in this cocktail adds a little boost to my evening routine and my mood. Here’s the recipe for a tasty blue martini I call the Blues Buster: it will wake up your eyes and your palette!

Blues Buster

1 ½ ounces citrus vodka

1 ounce each triple sec

1 ounce blue curaçao

1 ½ ounces sour mix (the homemade mix is best, but use what you have)

2-3 ounces Champagne (the drier the better)

Add the first four ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously. Pour into a martini glass, then top with champagne.
