Bardstown Road AglowBourbonBlog.com congratulates Boombozz Pizza & Taphouse’s Josh Torpey who created the “La Dolce Zucca,” which won the Four Roses Holiday Bourbon Battle at Bardstown Road Aglow in Louisville, Kentucky.

This new cocktail featuring Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon, Kahlua, Frangelico, and pumpkin butter (see below for full recipe).

La Dolce Zucca Recipe

2 oz Four Roses Small Batch
.5 oz Kahlua
.5 oz Frangelico
.5 oz simple syrup
2 dash bitters
1 tsp pumpkin butter
.5 oz stout
Vanilla bean ice cubes*
Cinnamon stick garnish

Instructions:

Shake all over ice in cocktail tin. Strain into rocks glass over vanilla ice cube.

*As recipe calls from vanilla bean ice cube, if this is not available, use regular ice cube and splash of vanilla vodka.

  • Filet vanilla beans in half then cut into cube sizes and freeze inside water ice cub tray.
  • This allow the vanilla bean to express at ice cube melts.

Lilly’s came in a close second with “Moonlight & Roses” followed by Asiatique at third place with “The Sparkling Rose.”

BoomBozz TaphouseA total of 19 restaurants & bars along Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue in Louisville featured specialty Four Roses’ holiday cocktails the week of Bardstown Road Aglow.

It marked the fourth year for the contest and the fifth year Four Roses was title sponsor of Bardstown Road Aglow.

More than 7,000 votes were submitted via text message, and by “liking” drink photos on Four Roses’ Facebook page from Nov. 22 through Dec. 8.

Boombozz’s winning bartender, Josh Torpey, will receive $500 cash, an engraved Four Roses decanter and a plaque for the restaurant. Bartenders from Lilly’s and Asiatique will also receive cash prizes for their participation.
