When the leaves start to fall I get a craving for Cynar. It’s hard to explain, but Cynar has a vegetal, harvest-like attribute that calls to me. So I made a simple recipe that’s a twist on the classic Manhattan recipe. I serve my fair share of Manhattans and it’s nice to change it up for my guests every once in awhile. This cocktail fits the bill. Get a bottle of Cynar and give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

I like to dilute my maple syrup equal parts with water to thin it out. In a pinch you can just add a half bar spoon of undiluted maple syrup. The quality of maple syrup is key. So try and get the highest quality syrup you can.

Recipe

  • 2 oz Corner Creek Bourbon
  • 3/4 oz Cynar
  • 1/2 oz Carpano Antica
  • 1/4 oz of maple syrup (1:1)
  • Garnish with an orange twist

Add all ingredients to a mixing glass, except the garnish. Stir with ice and strain into a double old fashioned glass with one large cube. Garnish with an orange twist.
