Make Your Own Apple Pie Vodka!

Making your own Apple Pie Vodka is easy, delicious, and a perfect recipe for holiday gifts. This is slightly different as most ‘Moonshines’ are made with whiskey – but we’ve found infused vodka works wonders too! We chose Jonathan Drake vodka for it’s smooth finish, because after we whip up this recipe it will be sweet enough to drink by itself or on the rocks. You are welcome to substitute this for any vodka or whiskey of your choosing.
If you are making multiple Christmas gifts, we recommend making 1 or 2 large batches first. After the apple infusion and addition of cinnamon sugar water has been added, you can split them up into smaller or more decorative jars. You should be warned, however, that you will like this Apple Pie Vodka so much that you won’t want to share!
We started this batch on November 3rd, and will be adding weekly progress reports and photos. After it is made, store it in a tightly sealed mason jar in a dark pantry or cabinet. All you need to do is shake the jar a little once every day for one month, then add the cinnamon sugar water, which we will show you how when this batch is ready!
Also, cinnamon sticks can be rather expensive, and we’ve found a perfect substitute: cinnamon-flavored tea bags. We use Tazo Organic Baked Cinnamon Apple. If you have regular cinnamon, go ahead and leave that in your batch along with the apples. If you are using tea bags like us, follow the recipe below:
Pour 1 cup vodka (or whiskey) into a mason jar. It should only be half full to save room for the apple slices. Put 3 Tazo Organic Baked Cinnamon Apple tea bags into the vodka and let them soak for one hour.
Take out the 3 tea bags after one hour, pressing the tea bags to ensure all of the vodka gets back in your jar. Now, it’s time to add an apple!
Slice and core one Granny Smith apple. Fill up the rest of your mason jar with the apple slices, and seal completely. Your concoction should look like this:
Remember to store in a dark, cool place and shake once a day. Check back to Spiked Sweet Shoppe soon for updates and to see how we add cinnamon sugar water to sweeten our ‘Apple Pie Infused’ vodka moonshine!
