Hell yeah, it's Mixology Monday and Halloween! Nothing can be better than this and this is because you can take your guests in a journey full on intrigue and amazement. Yes a good drink can be enough, but is something totally different when it has a background.
As I am still conceiving the story and this is a cocktail blog, not a fairly tale book I'm going to skip that part and cut straight to the recipe. So, without further chatter I introduce you fellow bartenders:

Essence of nightshade:
Unicum Szilva 1 1/2 oz
Sweet vermouth 3/4 oz
Benedictine 3/4 oz
- Old fashioned
- Stir Strain
- Lemon peel
Obviously it had to be an amaro! The dark elegance of it and the herbal bitter flavor suits just right the Halloween mood and Unicum Szilva in particular can be the starting point of many creepy stories. This is the second drink that I designed specially for it (for the first one check Silvanas Poison) and it seems I could keep going on and on.
Opposed to my first cocktail, this time I thought to myself, why not make a crazy herbal mingle in the glass so I grabbed Carpano Antica and Benedictine and result is just astonishing. I don't care what critics and hate this drink might bring upon itself, but I could drink this all day! I hope my guests will share the same belief.
It's hard to describe what is happening in the glass, but you'll find a bitter-sweet herbal profile with a citrus smack coming from the oils the lemon peel expressed.
That being said I wish you a spooky, full of fun Halloween!
And let's not forget lots of thanks to Mixology Monday and Rated R Cocktails for hosting. Wish you all the best fellas!
Respect!
