Sometimes I am really indecisive. My shopping trips last forever because I have a hard time deciding whether I like one article of clothing more than another. I’ll spend several minutes in the dressing room trying on the same two items over and over… and then I decide that the best decision is to buy both.

This weekend I brought home my first pomegranate of the season. The seeds were perfectly tart and sweet, and I couldn’t wait to muddle them into a cocktail. Because I was having trouble deciding which spirit to use as the base, I made one with gin, and another with white rum. Two completely different drinks, both refreshing and dangerously delicious.

Muddle pomegranate seeds in the bottom of a mixing glass with two mint leaves. Add simple syrup, then gin (or rum), and stir for several seconds. Double strain over fresh ice and top with soda. Garnish with a mint sprig and a few pomegranate seeds.
