Our photos and recipes are often inspired by our travels through scenic Bucks County while in search of images and ingredients. After a recent drive around our area during peak foliage season, including a visit to our local farm market, we were inspired to make a cocktail that reminded us of a perfect Autumn day in Bucks County.
Paul experimented with a batch of pumpkin-infused bourbon, which created the perfect anchor for this drink, and a garnish of my easy crunchy Apple Chips was just the right final touch. Berentzen Apple Schnapps provides a wonderful apple essence, and Stella Artois Cidre gives this drink a sparkling character, like dappled sunlight shimmering through crisply colored luminescent leaves.
Using a few souvenirs from our own backyard woods as props for this cocktail photoshoot made this truly a memorable project, and the drink really does taste like Autumn in a glass.
See the recipe for making your own Apple Chips here, and scroll down the page to see images of some our nearby Bucks County places that inspire us often.
- 1 cup bourbon
- ¼ cup pumpkin purée
- ⅛ tsp cinnamon
- ⅛ tsp nutmeg
- 4 cloves
- 2 oz Pumpkin Infused Bourbon (see ingredients above)
- 1 oz Berentzen Apple Schnapps
- Stella Artois Cidre (or any dry hard apple cider)
- Mix all ingredients in a jar (see above) and let set for a day. Strain through a course strainer to take out the large particles. The Pumpkin Infused Bourbon will be cloudy and should be shaken before using.
- Place 2 ice cubes in an Old Fashioned or Low Ball Glass and build the cocktail the ingredients listed. Add 2oz Pumpkin Infused Bourbon, 1oz Berentzen Apple Schnapps and top with Stella Artois Cidre.
- Garnish with optional dried Apple Chips (see recipe on our blog here)
