It’s the first day of Fall, even though here on the East Coast you won’t notice the transition in the weather. It’s still pleasantly warm and the trees are mostly all green. But I’ve been obsessing about pumpkin for the last month without regard for the season. It just feels like pumpkin time to me. I made pumpkin scones this past week -twice- and pumpkin bread the week before. I’ve been pinning every pumpkin recipe I see on Pinterest. So naturally I had to concoct a pumpkin cocktail.

Pumpkin Cream Martini

Pumpkin Cream Martini

There are more than a few pumpkin drinks, both with and without alcohol, popping up on my Pinterest feed. I haven’t made any of them, but this past weekend I discovered a pumpkin spice liqueur at my favorite liquor store, Total Wine. They were giving out samples (how could you not love a store that doles out samples of booze?), and this stuff was heavenly. And it was only $8.99! I knew I had to come up with something that included this Fall delight as its main ingredient. May I present to you the Pumpkin Cream Martini!

RumChata. Pumpkin liqueur. Vanilla rum. I could honestly end this post right here. The creamy goodness of the RumChata, the spice of the pumpkin liqueur and the kick of the vanilla rum makes this drink a no brainer. It’s not too strong, very sweet and surely fattening (I have no idea how many calories it has, nor do I want to know). In my humble opinion, it’s the perfect drink to launch the autumnal equinox!

Here’s the recipe-

Pumpkin Cream Martini

2 oz RumChata

2 oz Mr. Stacks Pumpkin Spice liqueur

1 oz vanilla rum

Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously then strain into a martini glass. No garnish required! (and that’s saying something for ME).

If you don’t feel like baking but you crave that pumpkin flavor, the pumpkin cream martini is the answer to your prayers.
