Rye House

For me, one of the “chois” of drinking is catching up over cocktails with friends, and one of my favorite places to do this is NYC’s Rye House. With our busy schedules, Erika, Kaitlin and I did not even realize how much time had past since our last post. While we usually invite other friends on our outings, we decided to keep it to just us so we could get caught up. Ironically enough, we spotted Erika’s boyfriend on a work outing and played a little prank on him. It’s funny how small a big city can be.

Rye House is a quality cocktail bar that knows how to make some of the more obscure cocktail drinks (i.e. Tuxedo #2), but is still very casual. They have an excellent whiskey selection and delicious food (may we recommend the fried pickles & “Dale’s” truffle beer cheese). While it can get crowded, it is still one of my favorite spots.

We decided to try the bar’s twist on one of our favorite classic cocktails, the Rye House Manhattan. It is made with Rye House single barrel bourbon, house vermouth, and house bitters. They had a few variations, but I prefer to stick with the traditional recipe; simple and delicious.

So whether you’re catching up with old friends or getting to know new ones, visit the Rye House and enchoi a few Manhattans in Manhattan.
