At the risk of sounding like a total puppy-strangler, I'm not the hugest fan of Girl Scout Cookies. On their own, they're just... pretty cloying. I am, however, a huge fan of pairing drinks with pretty much anything that accents a food's finer notes. So San Francisco bar Alembic's latest cocktail program, which is meant as a companion to the aforementioned charity-supporting biscuits... well, that I am down for.

This year's program, put together by head bartender Larry Piaskowy, takes four GSCs and delicately balances their sweetness with some incredible (and incredibly involved) concoctions. Each is $13, with two available on any given night, for the next three to four weeks, depending on how long those Girl Scout Cookies last.

The Girl From Ipanema with Samoa cookie
The Girl From Ipanema is almost a Caipirinha with the addition of a little sherry, which plays nicely with the Samoa cookie's vanilla and toasted coconut. And its touch of lime helps to carve through the Samoa's richness.

Broken Bagpipe with Do-si-do cookie
I rarely think of a cocktail that would pair with a cookie as "refreshing," but that's very much how the Broken Bagpipe tastes. Isle of Skye scotch with a touch of smoky Laphroiag do well to bring out the Do-si-do's oat notes, while a few dashes of Creme de Noyaux complement the cookie's peanut-butter filling. And then honey syrup, lemon juice, and Scrappy's Cardamon and Orleans Bitters keep it flavorful and fresh. A pleasantly surprising combo that's spot-on.

Mr. Kipling's Flip with Trefoil shortbread cookie
Like a boozy warm milk before bed, the brandy-based Mr. Kipling's Flip goes down deliciously—and is a perfect match for shortbread. The lemon juice slices through the buttery Trefoil and helps balance the drink's cream and egg, and the Genepy and lavender bitters give it just the right herbaceous touch to make it really interesting.

Some Like It Hot with Thin Mint cookie
My favorite of the bunch, Some Like It Hot is one seriously complex tequila drink—and, like its name suggests, it's served hot to boot. The spicy Ancho Reyes and muddled mint do wonders to bring out the Thin Mint's, well, mint component, but it's the St. George NOLA Coffee liqueur and Death & Taxes black lager foam that just put this one over the edge. Beautifully balanced throughout, which is a huge achievement on its own with this many ingredients.
