Like apples and pumpkins, pears are also in season this time of year. When ripe they are soft, sweet and great for muddling in cocktails such as this spiced pear daiquiri.

To really make the drink your own, start with homemade spiced rum. If you don't want to do that, it's okay. You can buy spiced rum - perhaps Sailor Jerry's?

Ingredients:

  • ½ of a ripe Bartlett pear, sliced
  • 2 ounces spiced rum
  • ½ of a fresh squeezed lime

Directions:

  1. Muddle pear slices and fresh squeezed lime in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add spiced rum and ice.
  3. Shake and then double strain into either an ice filled rocks glass or a chilled cocktail glass. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to extract all of the juice from the muddled pear into your glass.
