After a long and grueling winter, spring is here, and summer is just a couple of cocktails away. AskMen got together with Cari Hah, the chief mixologist at City Tavern at Fig at 7th in L.A. so she could show us two very refreshing and utterly delicious summer cocktails: the Bitter Me Happy, and the Cool Hand Duck. Bitter Me Happy
This rye cocktail packs a punch, and is a great way to get your summer nights started. Whether you're having a some friends you want to impress over, or it's time to wind down on your patio after a long day at work, this bad boy will have you covered.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Rittenhouse rye
- 1/4 oz Luxardo Hazelnut
- 1/2 oz Cynar liqueur
- 1/2 oz Luxardo Apricot
- 4 drops Angostura Bitters
- 4 drops Miracle Mile bitters
- Pinch of salt and orange zest
- Dried apricot for garnish
Cool Hand Duck
Just like the name suggests, this is one cool drink, and is as refreshing as it gets. This sweet-and-sour gem goes great with a Saturday afternoon by the pool. The citrus from the lime and the subtle pineapple vodka will keep you cool no matter how hot it gets.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Pineapple infused Vodka
- 3/4 oz Lime juice
- 3/4 oz Simple syrup
- 4 Basil leaves (3 for muddling, 1 for garnishing)
