I always try and have some simple syrup on hand for drinks and cocktails. Some of them simple and others flavored. Remember my Strawberry Rhubarb Simple Syrup and my Pineapple Sage Simple Syrup? This Mint Simple Syrup is actually a very basic recipe that is traditionally used in Mint Juleps but you can also you it to liven up a glass of plain sparkling water. I’m thinking up other cocktails to use the syrup so stay tuned. . .

A fast and simple three ingredient mint simple syrup recipe for the home bartender.

Serves: 1¾ cups

Ingredients

  • 1 cups Water
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Mint Leaves

Instructions

  1. Put everything in a small saucepan and heat over low.
  2. Stir and muddle the mint until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Let cool for at least 5 minutes before adding it to a sealed container while straining out the mint.
  4. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
