Get acquainted with this sexy cocktail
One of Atlanta’s newest hidden gems is Ink and Elm located in Emory Village. By far one of the most intriguing and sexiest restaurants I’ve every been to, the design aesthetic blends the tenants of Druid Hills architect Frederick Law Olmsted (who also planned and developed Central Park in NYC).
The attention to detail of the ornate tin ceiling tiles, rich chocolate woods and marble bar tops throughout the massive space that somehow fits 2 bars, 2 unique dining rooms and even a scotch/whiskey lounge under one roof echoes to the cocktail program developed by Bar Manager Nick Chaivarlis. From the craft spirits used in the cocktails, to the multitude of bitters to complement that are made in-house, Chaivarlis’ beverage program ranks right up there with iconic haunts like Holeman and Finch and Prohibition.
Here’s a brilliant cocktail to get you started on your journey:
The Lovelady aka Hanky Panky
- 1 3/4 quarters oz. Death’s Door Gin
- 1 3/4 quarters oz. Dolin Vermouth (Sweet)
- 1/4 oz. Fernet-Branca
- Dash of Fee Brothers West Indian Orange Bitters

Combine all spirits into your mixing glass. Ice. Stir. And serve in chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange peel.
