Figuring out how to make a Sazerac cocktail should be easy. Though there are far too many people who still don't know how to do it. We're hoping to change that. Our dream is to be able to walk into any bar/restaurant/home and be served a decent Sazerac.
This is a very old cocktail from the 1800s and is actually how the cocktail, as a form, was first defined. Spirit, sugar, water, bitters.
Sazerac
2.5oz rye whiskey (Rittenhouse)
.33oz simple syrup
3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
Absinthe rinsed glass
Start by adding a little bit of absinthe to your rocks glass. Swirl it around and coat the inside of the glass. Add the other ingredients to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir. Strain into the absinthe coated glass and express the oil of a lemon peel over the drink.
