Forget everything you know about Champagne and listen up: 2016 is the year for small batch "craft" Champagne labels. I know little about that part of the wine industry other than I like to drink it, so I spoke with Bob Paulinski, VP of Wine at BevMo who gave me some info in newer brands to be aware of this year. As a bonus, turns out these small "craft' wineries can keep their prices insanely low (less than $30 a bottle!) because they don't spend any money on marketing or advertising - something that major labels make a priority. Many of the wines below are highly rated by sommeliers (e.g. I asked a few and blind tested one) and are available at a local BevMo or similar in your area.

Check out these five and be blown away by greatness. You're welcome.

1. Jean de Villare Grande Reserve Brut

2. Consulat Palace Cuvee Prestige Brut

3. Chevalier Fabre Brut

4. Joseph Perrier Brut - great for mimosas!

5. Fluteau Brut
