Opened in 1930 adjacent to the Montmartre, the Embassy Club maintained a private membership list of 300, including Charlie Chaplin and Gloria Swanson.  By excluding the gawking public, the Embassy Club failed, pulling down the once-popular Montmartre (same owners) with it.

Embassy
1 ounce brandy
1 ounce amber rum
1 ounce orange liqueur
1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 teaspoon rich simple syrup

1. Add all ingredients to a mixing glass
2. Fill the glass 2/3 full with ice cubes and shake the drink vigorously for 15 seconds
3. Strain into a martini glass
