His-and-hers cocktails.

The Final Ward, created by bartender Phil Ward in New York, is a variation of the 1920’s pre-prohibition cocktail The Last Word.  Phil replaced the gin with rye and the lime with lemon.  Both cocktails are well balanced — slightly sweet and slightly sour. They complement one another just like you and your valentine.

Hers: The Last Word
3/4 oz. gin
3/4 oz. green Chartreuse
3/4 oz. maraschino liqueur
3/4 oz. fresh squezed lime juice

Add all ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake. Strain and garnish with a Luxardo cherry. Serve straight up.

His: The Final Ward
3/4 oz. rye whiskey
3/4 oz. green Chartreuse
3/4 oz. maraschino liqueur
3/4 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice
