Inspired by the Hogwarts house Ravenclaw, this cocktail is deliciously grounded in flavours of vanilla, blackberries, and dark chocolate. Blackberries are native to temperate Northern European regions – so Rowena Ravenclaw herself would have been very familiar with the rich flavoured pretty little berry as it is cultivated in abundance in Scotland.

Vanilla and chocolate on the other hand weren’t introduced to Europe until the 1500s, but to me are quintessential flavours that flood my senses with sweet nostalgia of home. My generation, the now twenty-something Potter-heads will always find a home in Hogwarts.

To create the on the vanilla foam, I've cut out a simple flying eagle. Works just as well (perhaps even better) with cocoa powder, but it will press the foam down over time.

Wit Beyond Measure

Prep Time 20 minutes

Total Time 20 minutes

Servings 1 Glass

Ingredients

  • 50 ml Creme de Cassis
  • 50 ml Vanilla Vodka
  • 1 dash Chocolate Bitters
  • 150 g Blackberries
  • 50 ml Water
  • 1 dash Miraculous Foamer
  • 20 g Dark Chocolate Grated

Instructions

  1. Put 150g of fresh blackberries in a blender with roughly 50ml of water, and blend thoroughly.

  2. Strain the liquidated blackberries through with a muslin cloth into a shaker.

  3. Top with Creme de Cassis and chocolate bitters. Shake thoroughly and pour into your glass. Clean and dry your shaker.

  4. Take the vanilla vodka, top with a splash of water, and a dash of Miraculous Foamer into your shaker. Shake again, extra-thoroughly this time to create vanilla foam. Pour the mixture and the foam into your glass on top of the blackberry mixture.

  5. Finely grate your dark chocolate, then sieve over a stencil on top of your foam head.
