I recently checked out the newly launched happy hour at Hanjip which runs every day from 4 to 6:30 p.m. That’s right, there’s happy hour even on weekends! Choose bites such as hot wings, pork buns, beef poutine and more.

There’s also discounted wine and beer as well as $2 soju shots.

We ordered a few things off the happy hour menu but couldn’t resist staying to get our grill on. We started with Mr. Oh’s ribs from the happy hour menu which at $12 is actually a great deal. We got so many meaty ribs that were falling-off-the-bone tender.

Hanjip now has a couple of bottled cocktails from Ryan Wainwright, Bombet Hospitality’s Director of Bar Programs. I tried the cheekily named, The Facial, which has genmaicha infused soju, aloe juice and ginger. It’s very refreshing.

We also got the crispy shrimp from the happy hour menu. The’re a bit like tempura shrimp but much juicier.

seafood pancake

I love Korean pancakes. They’re savory and it’s like eating a stuffed crepe. There’s a ton of good seafood in the pancake. Either of these three would make a good starter if you get to Hanjip early. Or if you just stick to the happy hour menu, you’ll be satisfied.

Hanjip is also offering an all-you-can-eat option on weekends. There are two levels; $19, which includes daily assortment of banchan, brisket, bulgogi, pork belly, marinated pork belly, and steamed rice or for $25, you can get the daily assortment of banchan, brisket, bulgogi, pork belly, marinated pork belly, marinated short rib, marinated pork shoulder, cctopus, kimchi fried rice, and steamed rice. If I were you, I would get the second option because there are so many choices.
