Drink For A Cause: Breast Cancer Awareness

Establishments all around the city are doing their part to support Breast Cancer Awareness month. For the month of October, just by ordering these original cocktails, you help donate to the cause. Head to these venues and check out what the bartenders are serving up all month long:

Time Square's new and notable Bar URBO (the second-floor cocktail lounge inside the culinary destination that is URBO), will be serving the Pink Lady cocktail and donating 50 percent of the proceeds to SHARE, a national organization that offers support groups to women diagnosed with breast cancer. Bar URBO’s Pink Lady cocktail ($16), crafted by Beverage Manager Jan Warren, is a gin-based drink that also features applejack, grenadine, lemon, simple syrup and egg white to give it frothiness.

Restaurants from Chef Richard Sandoval, including the modern Mexican restaurant Maya and Latin-Asian restaurant Zengo will offer the Pink Ribbon Agua Fresca, featuring fresh watermelon, to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. $1 from each Pink Ribbon Agua Fresca sold will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The non-drinkers can enjoy a virgin version or ask the skilled bartenders to spike it with the spirit of your choice. Our suggestion: Tequila or Mezcal!

Philippe, the modern Beijing-style restaurant on the Upper East Side by the famous Chef Philippe Chow, has introduced the Wild Pink. This cocktail ($19) is prepared with hibiscus syrup, elderflower syrup, elderflower liqueur and vodka, and is served over ice. For the month of October, Philippe is donating 15 percent of the proceeds from the Wild Pink to the American Cancer Society.

The Think Pink cocktail at MexiBBQ will donate a portion of their proceeds from their to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Pair some Mexican BBQ cuisine with this cocktail featuring blended watermelon, Agave Tequila, fresh lime, organic agave nectar, and a salted rim.
