GSC: Anchor Distilling Happy Hour

Zero readers love this post.
As part of Golden State of Cocktails, Anchor Distilling presented a happy hour with their line of spirits and liqueurs. Cari Hah and Brent Falco from City Tavern DTLA created the menu. It was fun to catch up over drinks with attendees from the cocktail week. Everyone was buzzing with ideas from the seminars and comparing our take-away experiences.
Cari is an old fashioned wizard. She came up with the Nikka Coffey Grain old fashioned by swapping out the simple syrup for both Luxardo Angioletto and Briotett creme de banane. The result may open your eyes to making an old fashioned with more than just bourbon or rye.
Nikka Coffey Grain Old Fashioned – Nikka Coffey Grain Japanese whisky, Luxardo Angioletto, Briotett creme de banane
Golden State of Cocktails lived up to its name with sunny skies and Winter in Southern Cali acknowledged our good fortune of great weather in winter. Winter may be Scotch season but in LA, we like drink our Scotch while wearing sandals. I would love to see a version of this for a patio (or fireplace) drink.
Winter in Southern Cali – The Glenrothes Select Reserve Scotch whisky, Luxardo Apricot Liqueur, rosemary-infused honey, Angostura bitters, flamed rosemary
If There Was Snow is from both Cari and Brent. The fizzy drink features the H by Hine cognac is another great drink for sunny LA days and balmy nights. It was just perfect for happy hour.
If There Was Snow – H by Hine cognac, mulled syrup, lemon, Angostura bitters, Champagne, cinnamon
The happy hour was a great success and we didn’t even have to leave the LA Times building where Golden State of Cocktails was held.
