Bowmore continues to debut new and interesting products with their latest release. Aged in first and second fill ex-bourbon casks, this adds a depth of sweetness and fruitiness to the endeavor.

Bowmore Small Batch (80 proof)
Visual: Medium gold.
Nose: Hefty smoke and fainter traces of barley malt.
Taste: The amount of smoke on the nose gives in to a more gentle flavor that is wonderfully tempered by a baked sweet potato sensibility. Upon first taste, you know this is Scotch, but more approachable than many Islay versions. The ex-Bourbon barrel aging serves the distillate well.
Finish: Medium long with tinges of smoke interplaying with the more ribald vanilla and caramel layers.
Overall: This is a rich and almost chewy Scotch that has a lot of American whiskey character. A great marriage which will last a lifetime!
GSN Rating: A
