LA Loves Alex’s Lemonade, one of my favorite food fests, returns Saturday, September 20. This year it’s at a new location, UCLA’s Royce Quad in Westwood.

Some local chefs I’m looking forward to seeing: Roy Choi (Kogi BBQ), Ray England (Craft), Jeremy Fox (Rustic Canyon), Neal Fraser (Redbird), Bruce Kalman (Union), Zach Pollack (Alimento, Sotto) Steve Samson (Sotto,),Michael Voltaggio (Ink) Jonathan Whitener (Animal), Mette Williams (Culina Modern Italian) and Kris Yenbamroong (NIGHT + MARKET).

I’m also looking forward to seeing these visiting chefs: Michael Anthony (Gramercy Tavern), John Besh (Besh Restaurant Group), Scott Conant (Scarpetta), Giada De Laurentiis (Giada Vegas), Hedy Goldsmith (Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink) and Russell Moore (Camino Restaurant).

This year I’m also making a beeline to Chef Ludo Lefebre’s table as I missed his food last year.

Here are some of my favorite bites from last year!

Pizza from Pizzeria Bianco

Yes, I was one of the people who waited patiently for one of America’s best pizzas. It was great and I saw some people waiting in the long lines again for other pizzas.

I love oysters and I have a special fondness for fried oysters. As a slider, it was magnificent. This one is from Connie and Ted’s in West Hollywood.

Spanish fried chicken from a.o.c./ Luques/ Tavern

I can’t resist fried chicken.

pork jowl from MB Post

One of my favorite bites from last year’s event was the pork jowl from Chef David Lefebre (MB Post, Fishing with Dynamite). It’s so melty-fatty-perfect.

Sure, there’s lots of wine at this event but for me it’s all about the cocktails. Look for drinks from The Varnish. Last year they brought an ice luge. Let’s see what they do this year. Be also on the look out from the Liquid Assets team; Marcos Tello and Aidan Demarest. Christopher Day will be representing Congenial Spirits (ooh, are we getting Tequila Tapatio?). I’m also looking forward to seeing the drinks from the Hungry Cat (their instagram makes me hungry and thirsty).

  Cure bar in New Orleans will also be returning this year. I always enjoy their well balanced drinks.

Christiaan Rollich – a.o.c. / Lucques/ Tavern

Christiaan Rollich, the head bar man for the a.o.c./ Lucques/ Tavern restaurants dazzled us last year with his smiles and good cheer. I’m looking forward to his drinks again soon.
