With all the attention that this rustic, artisan spirit from the south of Mexico is getting, will its quality start to suffer with emerging brands, or will its exposure only make it better?

Mezcal is experiencing the same type of euphoria that tequila did in the seventies. Now tequila is the most popular spirit in America. Mezcal's "old school" methods of distillation is what could potentially make Mezcal the next hottest spirit in the beverage industry. I definitely keep my eye in it since it has a special place in my heart as my own grandfather used to make it in the sierras of Oaxaca.
