It's Sunday morning (and remember, on Sundays, anything up to 1:15PM is technically "morning"). Maybe you're in the mood for a brunch-y cocktail, or perhaps you overindulged last night and you need a nice way to slide into the day. You need a hair of the dog—or should we say, pelo del perro? Enter the sweet and spicy world of the BLOODY SANGRITA.

Traditionally, sangrita is a palate cleanser enjoyed between sips of tequila. But award-winning mixologist (and aptly named) Ivy Mix cuts out the middleman by combining her own special Sangrita Mix with the tequila itself, giving us a unique take on a classic Bloody Maria.

First, she makes the mix, which relies on beet juice for color (and you get vitamins from it, too: score!). She combines it with sweet mango purée, some citrus, and two kinds of dried chiles. She makes sure to add the seeds for extra heat, which provides a nice kick that'll wake you right up. Blend everything together with salt and a touch of cayenne, and you've got some gorgeous Sangrita Mix:

Next, she makes a beautiful half-rim of salt on the glass. Why half? So people can control the amount of salt they get with each sip:

Then it's time for ice cubes, tequila, Sangrita Mix, a little more lime, and a straw:
