The revelry of football fans is a force to be reckoned with: The city of Phoenix, Ariz., host of this year’s Super Bowl XLIX, has agreed to suspend open alcohol container regulations in one area of the capital city in anticipation of the big game.

The decision to make an exception to the rules is the “largest special-event liquor license ever issued for the city’s downtown area,” says the International Business Times. To enter the open container zone, fans will have to pass through security checkpoints. Nine blocks will be enclosed and designated for Super Bowl festivities in the days leading up to the game.

Nearby Scottsdale, Ariz. will also be closing some downtown areas and allowing bars to host events spilling out into the streets.
